Our place, Village Arts & Crafts, is out at 380/312/3, Nh-65, Main Pali Road, Near Rishi Toyota, Kudi Bhagtasni. Being on the highway means we get a lot of dust from the traffic, so we’re constantly wiping down the counters. It’s a big open space where we keep all the crafts. It’s not very organized, to be honest. We have things from different villages all over the place. Sometimes it takes us a minute to find exactly what a customer is asking for. We aren't a big corporate chain. It’s just us and a couple of helpers. We usually have the radio playing in the background while we work. The sun hits the front of the building pretty hard in the afternoon, so we mostly hang out in the back where it’s cooler. We started this because we liked the stuff people were making in the smaller towns nearby. It’s simple work, buying and selling things that have a bit of character. We don't have a fancy website or a bunch of ads. People usually see the sign from the road and pull over to take a look. We’re just regular people trying to run a shop on the side of the road. It gets lonely sometimes when there’s no traffic, but then a group comes in and keeps us busy. That’s the life here at Village Arts & Crafts. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s a living and we enjoy the people we meet. It works.
