The Handicrafts

You can find us at 45 Bank Colony, right on the road that leads up to Umaid Bhawan Palace in Rai Ka Bagh. It’s a nice area because you see the palace in the distance, and there are always tourists around. The Handicrafts is our small shop where we keep a bit of everything. It’s not a giant warehouse; it’s more like a collection of things we’ve gathered. We spend the day dusting the items and talking to people who wander in after seeing the palace. Sometimes the monkeys from the nearby trees cause a bit of trouble near the entrance, so we have to keep an eye out. The shop has a big window that lets in a lot of dust from the road, so cleaning is a never-ending job here. We’ve lived in Rai Ka Bagh for most of our lives, so we know all the neighbors. It’s a comfortable routine. We don’t try to sell people on big ideas. We just show them what we have on the shelves. If they like something, they buy it. If not, we just have a chat about the weather or the traffic. It’s a very local way of doing things. The sign outside is simple, and we like it that way. It feels like part of the neighborhood.
