If you go past the B. R. Birla Public School in the Chopasni Housing Board area, you’ll see us right opposite. We are at P. N. 70 in R. K. Nagar. The place is usually covered in a thin layer of stone dust because that’s just what happens when you work with stone all day. At Super Stone Art And Stone Tools, we make things out of rock and also sell the tools people need to do it themselves. It’s a dusty, noisy job, but there’s something satisfying about it. You can hear the sound of grinders and chisels from the street. We aren’t artists in a gallery; we are more like builders who work with our hands. The yard is full of slabs and half-finished pieces. We started this because we knew the stone business around Jodhpur was always going to be there. It’s a practical trade. We don't have a big front office or anything impressive like that. Most of our time is spent out where the material is. Our tools are rugged because they have to be to cut through solid stone. People from the neighborhood know us as the stone guys near the school. We just keep our heads down, do the carving or the sharpening, and try to make sure we don't run out of supplies for the next day. It is hard work, but it keeps us going.
