Shree Govindam

You’ll find Shree Govindam at A-163, right across from the Circuit House on Palace Road in Ajit Colony. It’s a good spot, fairly easy for people to find once they’re in this part of town. The building is an older style, which fits the kind of work we do. We mostly deal with traditional items, the kind of things you’d expect from a place like Jodhpur. The rooms inside are filled with various pieces, some finished and some still waiting for a bit of work. It’s not a sterile environment; there is always a bit of dust and the smell of wood or fabric. We aren't much for fancy marketing. Most of our visitors are people who have heard about us from someone else. We spend our days talking to the craftsmen and making sure they have what they need to finish their tasks. The pace here can be a bit slow compared to the big cities, but that’s just how we like it. We have a small courtyard where we sometimes move things to see them in the natural light. It helps us see the real colors. Sometimes we run into delays because of the weather or a holiday, but we just deal with it as it comes. It's a local business, run by local people who have lived here their whole lives. We don't make big promises, we just show up and do the work every day at the shop.
