Ratlami Arora Chat & Caterers

Our place, Ratlami Arora Chat & Caterers, is inside Arora Bhawan. It’s right across from the Balwadi School in Ganchiyo Ka Baas. If you are coming inside Jalori Gate, it’s a bit of a maze, but people find us eventually. Being near the school means it gets really loud when the kids get out, which we kind of like. We do a lot of chat, so there’s always the smell of spices and tangy sauces in the air. It’s a busy environment. We have big bowls of ingredients lined up and we’re always refilling them. The space inside Arora Bhawan isn't huge, so we have to stay organized or we’d never find anything. Jalori Gate is such an old part of the city, and working here feels like being part of history. We don’t do anything too fancy. We just make the food the way we were taught. Sometimes we have to deal with the narrow streets when we are trying to get our catering supplies delivered, which can be a real struggle. But we make it work. We are just local people serving the community. We don’t have a big mission statement; we just want to make sure the chat is tasty and the catering orders go out on time. It’s a lot of hours on our feet, but we enjoy the bustle of the neighborhood. We’ve been here at this address for a long time and don't plan on going anywhere.
