About Rajni Leather Handicraft – Art & Craft in Jodhpur
Rajni Leather Handicraft is located in Sanjay B Colony, right across from the police chowki. If you walk by, you can usually smell the leather from the street. It’s a working shop, so it’s never really quiet. There is always the sound of hammers or the stitching machine going in the background. We have pieces of leather, tools, and half-finished bags laying on the workbenches. I started this because I liked working with my hands, and it just grew from there. We don't have a fancy showroom. Customers usually just walk in and see us working. Sometimes they ask if we can fix a broken strap or make something specific. I spend most of my day cutting material or checking the stitching on a wallet. My hands are usually stained with dye by the time I go home. The shop is small and can get quite hot in the summer, but we just keep the fans running and stay busy. Being opposite the police chowki makes it easy for people to find us. We don't really do much advertising; people just see our sign or hear about us from their neighbors. It’s a simple business built on hard work and lots of scraps of leather. I try to keep things organized, but when you’re busy making things, the mess just happens. It’s a real workshop, not a boutique, and that’s how we like it. We focus on the work and let the items speak for themselves.
