About Mangal Dal & Oil Mill – Food & Beverages in Jodhpur
Our mill is tucked away at E-421 in the Ipia area, right on Road No-7. If you walk past, you can usually smell the mustard oil or the earthy scent of the pulses being processed. It is a busy spot, especially in the mornings when the tempos are lining up to load. We have got the oil press in one corner and the dal machinery taking up most of the rest of the space. It’s not a quiet place by any means. There is a constant clatter of metal and the rhythmic sound of the press. We spend a lot of time checking the seeds and making sure the flow is steady. My father started things here, and we just keep it going day by day. We don't really do much advertising; people just know we are here on the seventh road. The office is just a corner with some old files and a ceiling fan that squeaks a bit. We deal with a lot of local shops and traders who have been coming to us for a long time. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, like when it’s too humid for the drying, but we manage. You get used to the oil stains on your shoes after a while. It’s just honest work, keeping the machines greased and the bags filled. We take our lunch under the shade of the small tree out front when we can.
