Living and working near the Fort Road is something else. Lucky Art & Crafts is inside Asop Ki Pole, right at Amit Bhawan. It’s an old building. The walls are thick, which keeps it cool in the summer. We like that. Getting materials inside is a bit of a struggle because the lanes are so narrow. We have to carry things by hand from the main road. It keeps us fit, I guess. We’ve got a lot of history in this spot. My grandfather was doing similar work, and now we are here. The name Lucky was his idea. We don't change much. The wooden benches are the same ones from years ago. They are sturdy. We spend our mornings sorting through what needs to be done. There’s a cat that hangs around the entrance of Amit Bhawan. We feed it sometimes. Most of the people living around here know us. We aren't trying to grow into some huge company. We just want to do the work well and go home to our families. Sometimes the tourists get lost and end up in our shop. We give them water and point them toward the fort. It’s a good life here. The air feels different inside the pole. It's quieter. We just focus on the pieces in front of us. When the sun goes down, we pack up and say goodnight to the neighbors.
