Hiten Trading Company

Being right near Uday Mandir means we hear the temple bells throughout the day. Our spot at Hiten Trading Company is pretty easy to find since we are just opposite the Government Veterinary Hospital. You see a lot of people bringing their animals by, which is always interesting to watch from our front step. Jodhpur 342001 is a busy part of town and the traffic can get a bit much around noon. We just keep the doors open and let the breeze in when there is any. The building is older, and you can see the wear on the floorboards where people walk the most. We spend a lot of time just organizing the stock and making sure the counts are right. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. Sometimes the hospital visitors come over just to ask for directions or a bit of water. We don't mind. It’s a good community here. My desk is covered in papers and some old tea stains that won't come out. We don't have fancy computers everywhere, just the basics to keep things moving. Every evening when the sun starts to set, the light hits the hospital wall in a weird way. That's usually when we start thinking about locking up. It’s a simple routine we’ve had for years now and it works for us. My son helps out sometimes, but mostly it's just me and the old ledgers.
