Tata Steel

This office for Tata Steel is at number 140 in the Kf4 Flats. It’s right in the B H Area of Jamshedpur. Most people in town know the Dhatkidih neighborhood, and we are just by the Bistupur post office area. Being in a residential flat makes the work day feel a bit different than being in a big factory. We handle the local distribution and all the paperwork from here. There aren't any fancy lobbies or receptionists to greet you. It’s mostly just us sitting around with our files and computers. Jamshedpur is a steel town, and we are just doing our part to keep things moving along. The neighborhood is quiet enough, though the stairs can be a bit of a climb if you aren't used to them. Sometimes the power goes out during the storms, but we just wait it out and get back to work. We have been in this spot for a good while, so everyone knows the way. It’s practical for what we need. We deal with the shipping logs and the coordination that keeps the trucks going. It is not glamorous work, but it is what we do. There is usually a pot of tea in the back if someone stops in. It’s just a few rooms filled with people who know the business. We don't care much for corporate images. We just work. It’s been our routine for years now. We stay here because it is where the work gets done best.
