You can find Bihar Sponge Iron Limited over at the Siboram Housing Complex. We are on the ground floor, right on Dimna Road in the Mango area of Jamshedpur. It’s a bit of a strange spot for a sponge iron business, being in a housing complex, but it works for us. The traffic on Dimna Road is always heavy, so there is a constant background noise of horns and engines. Inside the office, things are a bit quieter. We have desks piled with papers and some old filing cabinets that have seen better days. We deal with a lot of logistics from here. Sponge iron isn't exactly clean work, so there's always a bit of grit that follows us into the office from the sites. We handle the numbers and the orders while the trucks are out doing their thing. Most of the people living in the complex know us by now. We try not to make too much of a mess. It’s a practical setup. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the price of iron and how long the rains will last this year. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but nobody really has the time to worry about that. We focus on getting the loads sent out to where they need to go. It is a basic operation without any frills or fancy decorations.
