Working here at Tata Steel on Amanat Road in Sakchi is a lot of noise and heat. It’s not some quiet office job where you sit in the AC all day. We handle a lot of metal every single day, and the yard is always full of trucks coming and going. Sometimes the dust gets everywhere, but that is just part of being in the steel business. We’ve been at this location, L228, for a long time now. Most people in Sakchi know where we are. It’s a big operation, but on the ground level, it’s just guys in boots doing the hard work. We move steel beams, sheets, and whatever else needs to go out to the construction sites. Some days the weather is too hot and it makes the work slow, but we keep at it. My shift starts early when the air is still a bit cool. We don't spend time on fancy brochures or big speeches. We just load the trucks and check the orders against the sheets. There’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving things around with the old cranes. You get used to the smell of grease and metal after a week or so. It’s honest work. The road outside can get pretty jammed with traffic because of all the nearby shops. We just try to get the orders sorted and out the gate. It’s what we do here in Sakchi and it keeps us busy.
