Tata Steel

Everyone knows the big plant here in Jamshedpur. We are right in the middle of it, where the smoke and the heat are part of the daily routine. It’s a massive place, and it’s easy to get lost if you don't know your way around the different gates and sections. We work on the steel side of things, dealing with the raw materials and the furnace areas. It’s a lot of noise and heavy machinery that never really stops running. The shifts are long, and you go home smelling like iron and dust every single day. We don't really have time for those fancy corporate speeches. We just show up, do the work, and make sure the output is what it needs to be. The town itself was built around this place, so almost everyone we know has some connection to the mill. It’s not an easy job, but it’s steady. We see the glowing metal moving through the rollers and it just becomes normal after a few weeks. There are thousands of us here, each doing our small part in a very big machine. We eat in the canteen, talk about the production numbers, and then go back to the heat. It’s honest work, even if it is incredibly loud and dirty most of the time. We just keep making the steel that goes out to the rest of the country.
