Tata Steel Limited is right here in Bistupur. You can’t really miss us if you’re in this part of the city. We’ve been a fixture here for a very long time, and many people who live here have a connection to the plant. It’s a massive place. When you go inside the gates, it feels like its own city. There is the heat from the furnaces and the sound of the rail cars moving steel around. It’s a busy, industrial atmosphere that never really stops. We make steel that goes into just about everything. It’s a lot of responsibility, but we don't make a big deal out of it. We just show up for our shifts and get the work done. The offices are also located here, and they are usually full of people tracking orders or managing the technical side of the production. It isn't a quiet or particularly clean place to work, but it’s honest. We don't use much marketing language because the steel speaks for itself. People know what we produce. The history of the place is everywhere, from the old brickwork to the way the shifts are organized. It can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it. But for us, it’s just the daily routine of melting, pouring, and rolling out the metal. We’re just a bunch of people making steel in Bistupur.
