Down here at Plot No. 442 in Shankar Tekri, things are always moving. Jamnagar is known for this kind of work, and our little corner in Udyognagar is no different. At Jyoti Metal Products, we deal with brass and other metals, turning them into various parts that people need. The smell of hot metal is something you never really lose once you step inside the gate. It’s a dusty place, to be honest, but that’s just how it is when you’re working with these materials all day long. We have a few lathes and some old machines that still work better than the new ones we bought recently. Usually, we are busy with small batches for different people who stop by or send us a message. It gets crowded on the floor when a new load of material arrives, and we have to shuffle things around to make space. We don’t spend much time on fancy things; we just focus on the measurements and making sure the threads on the parts are right. Lunchtime is usually spent outside by the gate because it’s a bit cooler there with the breeze. We’ve known the guys at the neighboring plots for many years. It’s a community of makers, really. Nothing too complicated, just a lot of hard work and keeping the machines oiled so they don’t seize up in the Jamnagar heat. It’s just what we know.
