Our business is right across from Water Tank 49 on Udyognagar Road in the Shankar Tekri area of Jamnagar. If you know anything about Jamnagar, you know this neighborhood is packed tight with small shops and workshops. We do a bit of everything here, mostly trading parts and doing small assembly tasks. The street outside is always noisy with people shouting and vehicles pushing through the traffic. Our shop is quite small, so we have to be very smart about how we stack the boxes to make sure we can still move around. We spend a lot of time checking what we have in stock and making sure the orders are ready for whoever is coming to collect them. Since Jamnagar is known for brass, we handle a lot of brass components and the air always has that metallic smell to it. We open up the shutters early in the morning because that is when the area is most active. I usually sit at the front desk so I can see the people passing by on the road. It’s a friendly place once you know the other shopkeepers. We’ve been here at Shankar Tekri for a long time now and we don’t have any big plans to change things. We just want to keep the shop running and help the customers who stop by with their daily needs. It’s a lot of small jobs, but it keeps us moving.
