Shanker Tekri is the place where a lot of the heavy metal work happens in this town. Our unit at 350/13/a is right in the thick of all that noise. It is a loud place to spend a whole day, that is for sure. We have machines cutting and shaping metal parts almost all the time. The workshop floor is usually covered in small metal shavings that get stuck in your boots if you are not careful about where you step. I have worked here for a long time now, and you just get used to the intense heat coming from the furnaces. We make all sorts of brass and metal bits that eventually go into bigger machines or plumbing systems. It is not glamorous work at all. My hands are usually rough and I have a few small cuts here and there from the sharp edges. We do not have a fancy website or a dedicated sales team. People just know we are here in Udyognagar and they come to us when they need a specific part made to a certain size. The tea stall down the road is where we all go for a quick break when things get too hot inside. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we spend the whole afternoon trying to fix it ourselves with a heavy wrench and some luck. It is a small shop, and we all know each other’s business quite well. We just keep the machines running and try to stay on top of the orders.
