Shah Brass Turning Co. operates out of SP Shed No. 15/2/B in the GIDC area of Shanker Tekri Udyog Nagar. This is a real industrial zone, and you can hear the sound of metal being worked from the moment you turn onto the street. Our shed is pretty much like the others around us—full of machinery, raw metal, and the smell of cutting oil. We specialize in brass turning, which means there are always little yellow shavings all over the floor no matter how often we sweep. It is hot work, especially in the middle of the day when the sun beats down on the roof of the shed. We have been doing this for a long time, and we know exactly how to get the most out of our lathes and tools. It is a small operation, just a handful of us who know the trade well. We don't have a fancy showroom or even a proper office; mostly we just stand at the machines and do the work. Customers usually just come right to the shed door and talk to us over the noise. It is a grit-and-grime kind of job, but there is a lot of satisfaction in seeing the finished pieces stacked up at the end of the day. Shanker Tekri is a tough area, but it is where we belong.
