Gujarat Foundry And Engineering Works is located at B-43 in M. P. Shah Udyognagar. We’re right on Sarusection Road. Being in an industrial area means there is always a bit of soot in the air and the sound of machines running in the distance. It’s a tough environment, but we like it that way. The foundry itself is hot and loud, just like you’d expect. We spend a lot of our time near the furnaces or checking the molds. It’s dirty work and our clothes usually show it by the end of the shift. We keep a radio on. We’ve been at this spot for quite some time now. The building is old and the roof leaks a little when it rains really hard, but we know where to put the buckets. We don't have any air conditioning in the main work area, just big industrial fans that mostly just push the hot air around. We take our breaks together and talk about the news or whatever else is going on. It’s a tight-knit group here. We don't use much fancy technology for the sake of it, just the machines that we know how to fix ourselves. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until late evening. The road outside is always full of trucks coming and going, so there is never a quiet moment during the day. We just get on with it.
