Ravechi Darshan Dining hall

Driving along the National Highway towards Dwarka Town, you’ll see plenty of places to eat, but we’ve been at this spot for a while now. Ravechi Darshan Dining hall is mostly about serving people who have been on the road for hours. It’s a big open room with rows of long tables because we get a lot of families and groups of pilgrims coming through. The floor is easy to clean, which is good because people bring in a lot of dust from the highway. We don’t do a-la-carte much; it’s mostly just the standard thali because it’s faster for everyone. We start early in the morning, getting the dal ready and patting out the rotis. You can hear the big trucks rumbling past outside all day and night. The Gujarat heat can be tough, so we have big jugs of water on every table. We don’t have fancy decorations on the walls, just some pictures of the temple. Most people are in a hurry to get to the Dwarkadhish temple, so they eat quickly and head out. We see people from all over India here. Sometimes we have to shout to be heard over the noise of the traffic and the fans. It’s a busy life, but it keeps us moving. We just focus on keeping the food fresh and the plates moving out of the kitchen. When the highway gets closed for repairs, things get quiet, but that doesn't happen too often.
