Mapara Parotha House

We’ve been running this parotha house right across from the Nagarpalica in Jamkhambhalia for quite some time now. If you're walking around Milan Char Rasta, the smell of the griddle usually leads you right to us. It’s a busy spot, especially when the offices nearby let out for the afternoon. We don’t have fancy menus or anything like that. We just focus on making the parothas the way people here like them. The kitchen gets pretty hot in the afternoons, but that’s just how it is when you’re cooking all day. We serve folks from all over Jamnagar and even people coming in from Khambhalia. My family started this because we knew how to cook and people needed a place to eat that wasn't complicated or expensive. We have wooden tables and some benches that have seen better days. You might find a bit of flour on the floor sometimes because we’re constantly rolling dough for the next batch. People usually just shout their order out and find a seat wherever there's space. It’s loud, it’s a bit cramped, and the tea is always boiling on the side. We don't worry about decorations or looking polished. The main thing is the food getting out to the tables while it’s still steaming. Most of our regulars have been coming since they were kids. We just keep doing what we’ve always done, right here at the crossroads. It is a simple life and we enjoy the work we do.
