This center is basically a house, number 93 C in Shastri Nagar. It feels more like a home than a school because of where it is. We’ve got the rooms set up with desks and chairs, and the neighborhood is usually pretty quiet. In Jammu, things move at their own pace. We open up in the morning and wait for the students to show up from the local area. It’s nice being in a residential part of town because it’s not as noisy as the main market. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to wait it out. We know most of the people who come through the door by their first names. It’s a small operation. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of us managing the schedules and making sure the computers are running okay. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for what we need. We spend our days answering questions and helping people get through their modules. There’s a small tea stall nearby where we go during the breaks. It’s a simple life here in Shastri Nagar. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It’s just a place to study and get some work done without too much fuss. The front gate squeaks a bit when you open it.
