New Friends Dhaba

This dhaba is right at the bus stand in Jammu. If you are coming or going from the city, you will probably see us. We are located opposite St. Peters School. It’s a 180001 area code. Being across from a school and right next to the buses means there is never a quiet moment. In the mornings, it is all school kids and parents, and then the rest of the day is just the noise of the bus engines and people dragging their luggage. It’s a very basic setup. We have simple tables and the kitchen is right there. It’s not a fancy restaurant. It’s a dhaba. We deal with the Jammu weather, which can be quite cold in the winter. We just keep the tea hot and the food ready. People are usually in a hurry to catch their bus, so we have to work fast. We don’t have time for corporate talk or mission statements. We just feed the people who walk in. The school is a big landmark, so if you find St. Peters, you’ve found us. The floor is concrete, the chairs are sturdy, and we just do our job. It’s a lot of long hours, but that is how it is at a bus stand. We’ve been here in this same spot for quite a while now. It’s just how we live.
