Steel World

We've been at C-14 in Focal Point for a good while now. It’s a busy spot, mostly loud with the sound of metal moving around and trucks backing in and out all day. My father started things here and I just sort of took over when the time came. The floors are usually covered in dust and there is always a layer of grease on everything, but that is just how it is when you deal with steel. We spend most of our mornings checking the inventory and making sure the cutters are working right. Sometimes the power goes out in the industrial area and we just sit outside and have some tea until it comes back on. It’s not a fancy office or anything like that. Just a big shed with a lot of heavy stuff inside. We know the neighbors pretty well since we all deal with the same issues, like the road getting muddy when it rains. People come by asking for specific sizes of sheets or rods and we do what we can to get it sorted. There are days when the phone won't stop ringing and other days where it's just the sound of the machines. We don't really do much advertising or anything. Most people just know we are here in Focal Point. It’s hard work and it gets hot in the summer under the tin roof, but it’s what we do every day.
