Sri Velmurugan Modern Rice Mill

Sri Velmurugan Modern Rice Mill is located at Mata Rani Chowk, right on the Ladowali Main Road. If you are looking for us, we are quite close to the Mittal Company building, which most people around here know well. The mill is a busy place, and there is almost always the sound of the machines running in the background. It smells like grain and earth inside, which I’ve grown to like over the years. We handle a lot of rice processing, and the floor is usually covered in a fine layer of dust from the husks. It’s a lot of manual work, moving heavy sacks and making sure the machinery is behaving itself. My hands are usually a bit rough from the work, but that is part of the job. People from the surrounding areas bring their harvest here, and we spend the day getting through the piles. The traffic at the chowk can get a bit hectic during the middle of the day, so getting trucks in and out takes some patience. We aren't trying to be anything fancy. It’s just a mill where we do the work that needs doing. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit and wait, which gives us a chance to have some tea and talk. It’s a local business through and through, run by people who live right nearby and understand how much work goes into every bag of rice.
