Thakur Coconut Udyog

Our business, Thakur Coconut Udyog, is located on Govind Marg in the Raja Park area. We are quite close to the Pink Square Mall, so the area gets a lot of foot traffic and cars. Salarpuria is a busy spot to be in. Dealing with coconuts is a messy business, but someone has to do it. We have heaps of them arriving regularly. The husk gets everywhere, and we are constantly cleaning up. It’s a lot of physical labor, unloading trucks and sorting through the stock to see what's good. We don't have a corporate office with air conditioning. Most of the time we are out in the open or under a basic roof. It gets hot in Raja Park, especially in the afternoons. We've got a few workers who have been with us for a long time. They know the rhythm of the work. Sometimes we have people from the mall wandering over out of curiosity. We just tell them what we do and go back to work. It’s a straightforward operation. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. We buy coconuts, we sort them, and we sell them. That's the whole story. The location is good because it’s easy for transport to reach us, even with the mall traffic. We just keep our heads down and do the work every day. It’s loud and busy, but it is our way of making a living in the city.
