Sunder Tent House

If you go down Adarsh Nagar Main Road, you’ll see our place at 165-167. It’s mostly a warehouse full of iron poles, folded carpets, and big bundles of cloth. You wouldn't think it looks like much when it’s all packed away. But when we load it onto the trucks, it turns into something else. It’s physical work. My arms are always sore from carrying those heavy metal frames. We spend a lot of time checking for holes in the tents or cleaning the chairs after a big party. Everything gets dusty because we store it all in the back. During the wedding season, we hardly sleep. We are out late setting up and then back early to take it all down. The rain is our biggest enemy. If the fabric gets wet, it’s a whole lot of trouble to dry it out. I’ve been doing this for years, and I know how to tie a knot that won't slip even in a storm. The shop front is just a place for people to sit and talk about their events. We have some old photos pinned to a board showing what we’ve done before. It’s a loud, messy business, but it keeps us busy. My shoes are usually covered in mud or dust from some field we were working in. That’s just the job. We don't make it look pretty until it's actually standing up.
