Str-Eat

Down in Sodala, we set up this place called Str-Eat. It’s exactly what it sounds like—street food but with a place to sit down. Jaipur has so much good food everywhere, so we just wanted to do our own version of the things we grew up eating. We are right in the middle of Sodala, which is always busy and full of life. It’s not the quietest neighborhood, but that’s part of the charm. We have some metal chairs and a kitchen that stays hot all day long. Sometimes we run out of things earlier than expected because we don't like keeping leftovers for the next day. It’s a small operation, really. Just a couple of us who know how to cook and a few guys helping out. We don’t have a fancy website or a PR person. If the food is good, people come back, and that’s mostly how we’ve stayed open. You might find a bit of flour on the floor or a waiter who’s a bit tired after a long shift, but we’re all human. We try to keep the prices fair because we know everyone is working hard for their money. If you’re looking for a flashy place for a photoshoot, this probably isn’t it. But if you want something that tastes like the street, come find us in Sodala. We’ll be here flipping things on the stove.
