Shri Nath Tent House & Light

Out here on Kuthada Papdi Road in Virat Nagar, things move a bit slower than in the main city. We’ve got Shri Nath Tent House & Light set up to handle both the tent side of things and the lighting. It’s a lot of work keeping track of all the wires and the different types of decorative lights we have stored in the back. The dust out here is something else, so we spend half our time just wiping things down. We started this because there wasn't much else around for the local folks when they had something to celebrate. Our inventory is a mix of old and new, and we try to keep the lights in good working order, though fuses blow more often than we’d like. The bamboo poles are stacked high against the wall, and the colored fabrics are folded in big bundles. When a job comes up, we pile everything onto the tractor or a small truck and head out. It’s hard work, especially when you’re up on a ladder fixing lights in the dark. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We just provide the basic stuff people need to make their space look a bit better for an evening. The crew is mostly made up of guys from the nearby village. We’ve all learned the job by just doing it every day. It’s a simple way to make a living and it keeps us connected to the community here in Virat Nagar.
