Shiv General Store

The store is located right in the middle of Kotkhawada, near the main market on Tonk Road in Jaipur. It’s been our daily spot for a while now. We keep a bit of everything here, from school notebooks and pens to things like soap, oil, and small household items. It’s not a huge place, just a standard general store where people from the neighborhood drop by when they realize they ran out of something at home. The morning starts early for us because we have to open up before the local kids head to school. They often come in looking for erasers or those small snacks. Tonk Road is always loud with traffic, so there is constant noise outside, but inside we just focus on helping whoever is standing at the counter. We don't use a computer for everything; most of the time we just write things down in a register or remember the prices. The shelves are packed tight, and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what someone is looking for, especially if it's a specific brand of washing powder. We don't try to be anything special, just a shop that stays open late enough for the office workers coming home. It gets dusty because of the road, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the jars and packets. It's just a regular business run by regular people.
