Saini Tent & Light House

If you go down towards Ramgarh Mod in the Surajpole Bazar area, you’ll find Saini Tent & Light House at Ram Ganj 298. We do a bit of everything here, not just the tents but also the lighting that people need when it gets dark. The shop is always a bit cluttered with wires, bulbs, and heavy rolls of tent material. It’s not a very big space but we make it work. Most days we are busy testing the lights to make sure none of the bulbs are fused before they go out to a site. It’s a lot of climbing up and down. The area around Surajpole is always humming with activity, especially in the evenings. We’ve been here long enough that the sounds of the street just blend into the background for us. We aren't big on talking ourselves up, we just get the job done and move on to the next one. Sometimes a customer wants something specific with the colors of the lights and we try to find the right wires for it. It can be stressful when there are three weddings on the same night but we manage somehow. We usually have a little radio playing in the corner while we work. It’s a simple life, mostly involving manual labor and making sure the generators have enough fuel. It’s good to see the lights working when the sun goes down over the bazaar.
