Rani Sati Tent House

Over on Sikar Road, near the Jaipur G P O area, you can find Rani Sati Tent House. It’s a busy stretch of road with a lot of trucks passing through, which makes it a good spot for what we do. Our yard is usually full of stuff—bamboo sticks, big decorative gates that need a fresh coat of paint, and heaps of carpets that we have to beat the dust out of every now and then. The sun is pretty brutal here, so the guys spend a lot of time under the shade of the tin roof when they aren't out on a job. It’s not a quiet place. There’s always the sound of someone hammering something or the rattle of an old truck engine starting up. We don’t do things the corporate way; we just handle orders as they come in and try to make sure we don't lose any of the smaller bits and pieces like clips or ropes. Sometimes the rainy season messes with our plans, and we have to scramble to cover everything up with plastic sheets. It’s a lot of physical labor, and at the end of the day, everyone is pretty tired. We’ve lived and worked in this area long enough to know all the shortcuts and the best places to grab a quick meal. It’s just a regular local business trying to get things done right and keep the customers coming back.
