Manish Tent House

Our place is in Kariri Gajipur, near the Jaipur G P O area in Tehsil Toda Bhim. Manish Tent House is where we keep all the supplies for weddings and local functions. We have big stacks of metal poles, rolls of colorful fabric, and hundreds of plastic chairs piled up. Most of our work happens outside the shop, out in the fields or at people's houses where the party is going to be. We load everything onto the back of a truck and head out early. It is heavy work and my back feels it at the end of the day. The shop itself is mostly for storage and for people to come and tell us what they need for their event. We have different types of tents, some for shade and some for decoration. Toda Bhim is a place where weddings are a big deal, so we stay very busy during the marriage season. When it rains, we have to hurry to cover everything so the fabric doesn't get ruined. In the off-season, we spend time repairing the poles or washing the linens. It is a family-run business and we all know how to tie the knots and set the stakes so the tents don't blow over in the wind. We don't have a fancy office; we usually just sit outside on the chairs we rent out and talk to the neighbors. It’s honest work and we like being part of the local celebrations in our community.
