Mahershi Tent House

Our setup is at Mahesh Nagar A 265. If you walk into our yard, you’ll see piles of metal poles, folded up colorful fabrics, and stacks of plastic chairs. This is where we keep all the stuff for the tent house. Most of our work happens out at other people's places, setting up for weddings, small parties, or local gatherings. When we are not out on a job, we are here cleaning the carpets or checking that the tent cloths don't have any holes. It’s physical work and can be quite tiring, especially when the sun is out. The crew is usually busy loading or unloading the rickshaws and small trucks. We have been in Mahesh Nagar for a good many years, so many people in the colony know us when they need some extra seating for a guest at home. The office is just a small room with a register where we write down the dates and the deposits. It’s often a bit cluttered with samples of decorations and lights. We don't do anything too fancy, just honest work making sure people have a roof over their heads for their events. Sometimes the poles get a bit rusty and we have to paint them again. It’s a constant cycle of packing and unpacking. That’s the life of a tent house. We just keep our heads down and get the tents standing.
