M K Dyeing & Tent Works

Our place, M K Dyeing & Tent Works, is right on the main part of Station Road. It is a noisy spot because of all the buses and cars going past, but it helps people find us easily. We have been working with fabrics and tents for a long time. The back area is where the big dyeing vats are kept. My clothes usually have a few spots of color on them by the end of the shift. We handle a lot of heavy canvas and cloth that needs to be colored just right for functions. When we are not dyeing, we are checking the tent poles and the ropes. Tents take up a lot of room, so the shop floor is often covered in folded fabric. We have to make sure everything is dry before we pack it away or it will smell. Sometimes we are out on the road setting up for a local event, which is hard work in the sun. The main road is always busy, so loading the trucks is a bit of a challenge with the traffic. We don't have fancy displays, just the tools of the trade and stacks of finished work waiting to be picked up. It is a physical job and our hands are often tired. We just focus on getting the colors right and making sure the tents are sturdy enough for whatever weather comes.
