Kohinoor Dyeing & Tent Works

Kohinoor Dyeing & Tent Works is located at 1145 in Chandpole Bazar. This part of the city is very old and the lanes are narrow, so everything feels very close together. We spend our days working with different dyes and large pieces of cloth. The smell of the coloring agents is something you get used to after a few days. We have racks where we hang the fabric to dry, and when the wind blows, you can see all the different colors moving. Besides the dyeing, we handle all the equipment for tents. This means a lot of heavy lifting with wooden poles and metal stakes. We keep everything organized in the back, though it looks a bit messy to an outsider. People from the neighborhood come to us when they have a wedding or a small gathering in the street. We have to walk the equipment through the bazar because big trucks cannot get into the smaller lanes here. It is a lot of back-and-forth movement. The shop itself is an old building with high ceilings which helps keep it a bit cooler. We sit out front on wooden chairs when things are slow and watch the shoppers go by. It is a steady kind of work, and we have been at this address for quite a while now.
