Kandira Tent House

Kandira Tent House is located at Kalwar Road, specifically in Awadhpuri, number 23. This business is all about timing. During the wedding season, we are barely ever home. We have huge stacks of heavy fabric, metal poles, and hundreds of folded chairs stored in our space. It’s a lot of heavy lifting. My crew and I spend our days loading up the trucks and driving out to different sites to set everything up. It is tiring work, especially when the sun is out, but there is a certain feeling of finishing a big setup and seeing it all ready for a party. When it's not the busy season, we spend our time repairing the tents and painting the chairs to keep them looking okay. The shop itself is mostly a place to store the gear and meet people who want to book us for an event. We have a big ledger where we write down the dates and what people need. Sometimes we run out of chairs and have to borrow some from our friends in the business. That’s just how it works around here; everyone helps each other out. Kalwar Road is growing fast, so there are always new people coming in to ask about prices. We don't have a big office, just a desk near the front where the fan actually reaches. It’s a honest way to make a living, even if our backs ache at the end of the day.
