We've been here in the Achar Walon Ki Gali for quite some time now. It’s a tight spot in Johari Bazar, but everyone knows where the Ratnam Complex is. We spend most of our days at Shop No. G-4. It’s where the work happens. Making silver jewellery isn't always easy, especially when things get busy in the market. We mostly just focus on the manufacturing side of things. It's dusty sometimes and the tea guy comes around every hour. That's just how it is here. My uncle used to say the name sounds fancy, but we're just regular people working with our hands. We have benches set up and tools everywhere. Sometimes we stay late when a big order needs finishing. The street outside is always loud with people looking for pickles and stuff, but inside we just keep at it. We make different kinds of pieces, mostly silver stuff. It’s what we know. The morning starts early, usually around ten when the shutters go up. We have to sweep the floor first. You wouldn't believe how much dust gets in from the street. Then we sit down at the benches. We have a few guys who have been with us for years. They know the silver work better than anyone. It’s quiet in the morning but by afternoon, the whole market is buzzing. We just ignore it and focus on the jewellery. It feels good to finish a batch. We're just a small part of this big market.
