Harsh Tent House

I have been working here at Harsh Tent House for quite some time now. We are located right in Shiv Shakti Colony, near Shastri Nagar, and it’s a busy spot. Most days are spent moving poles and heavy fabrics around the yard. It gets really hot in Jaipur, especially during the wedding season, but we just get on with it. My father started this place, and now we just handle whatever comes our way in the neighborhood. We have a lot of stuff stored in the back, mostly chairs and carpets that need dusting every few days. Sometimes the trucks find it hard to navigate these narrow lanes near the GPO, but we manage somehow. People from around Shastri Nagar usually just walk in when they have a small function at home. It is not some fancy office with air conditioning or anything like that. We sit on the plastic chairs outside and talk to anyone who needs some help with their event. The curtains get dirty and we spend a lot of time cleaning them before they go back out. It’s hard work, and my hands are usually covered in dust by the evening. We don’t have a big team, just a few local boys who know how to tie the knots properly so nothing falls down when the wind picks up. Life is simple here, and we just try to do what we are told. Most days end with a cup of tea and looking at the schedule for tomorrow. It is just a regular local business.
