Ganesh Tel Ghani

Ganesh Tel Ghani is our family business located at Shop No 44 and 45 on New Sanganer Road. We are right in Katewa Nagar, Sodala, near the Gurjar Ki Thadi area. We have been here for a long time. The main thing we do is deal with oils. You can often smell the seeds being processed when you get close to the shop. It is a distinct smell that stays on your clothes. The shop is quite busy because many people in Jaipur still prefer fresh oil. We have the machines in the back and the counter in the front. It gets quite warm inside when the machines are running. I spend most of my day monitoring the containers and talking to customers. We have a lot of regular families who bring their own tins to be filled. The floor can get a bit slippery, so we have to be careful and clean it often. We do not have a fancy showroom. It is a working shop with a lot of heavy equipment. My brother and I manage the whole thing ourselves. We start work early before the heat of the day becomes too much. It is hard work and our hands are always a bit oily. We do not do much advertising; people just know us by word of mouth. It is a simple, honest way to make a living.
