Elegant Events

We work out of Jaies Garden on Kings Road in Nirman Nagar. Most of our time is spent on our feet, moving around the garden or the office to get things ready. This isn't a desk job. We handle a lot of different things, like arranging where the lights go or figuring out how to fit two hundred chairs into a space that looks too small. The garden needs a lot of care, so there’s always someone watering the plants or trimming the grass. When there is a function coming up, it gets very frantic. We are on the phone with flower sellers or decorators at all hours. We have a small room where we keep samples of fabrics and photos of past setups. It’s often messy with ribbons and sketches lying around. Kings Road is a busy place, so we have to manage the parking and the noise so the neighbors don't get upset. Sometimes things go wrong, like a fuse blowing or a delivery being late, and we just have to fix it on the spot. It is a lot of pressure to make sure everything looks okay for the people who booked the place. We usually finish very late at night when the last guest has left. Then we start cleaning up and getting ready for the next one. It’s exhausting, but the work keeps us going. We try to keep the grass green even when the heat is bad.
