Our place is tucked away at number 46 in Jayanti Market, over in the Ricco Industrial area near Jaipur Gpo. It’s an area full of workshops and small factories, so there’s always the sound of machinery or trucks moving around in the background. We focus on our work here, surrounded by boxes and whatever stock we’ve managed to organize for the week. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy with orders to worry about that. It’s an industrial part of Jaipur, so it’s more about getting the job done than looking pretty. We have a couple of desks that are always covered in papers and samples. Most people who find us are looking for something specific for their own businesses. The air always feels a bit heavy with the smell of cardboard and manufacturing. We’ve been in this market for a while, and we’ve seen shops come and go, but we just keep our heads down and handle our daily tasks. Lunch is usually eaten quickly at the desk while we talk about what needs to be shipped out next. It’s a lot of manual work, moving things from the back to the front, and making sure the inventory counts match up. It isn’t glamorous, but it’s our daily reality in Jayanti Market. We like the grit of the industrial area; it feels like real work is happening every single day.
