A N U Mobile Pan Bhandar

This pan shop has been sitting here near the Jaipur G P O in Raja Park for a long time. It’s just a small stall, really. We have all the jars lined up on the shelves with different types of supari and tobacco. The wooden counter is stained from years of work. People stop their bikes right out front and ask for a quick pan before they head home. It’s a lot of folding leaves and making sure the lime paste is just right. My hands are usually green by the end of the shift. We also sell mobile recharges and small things like that because people always seem to run out of balance at the wrong time. It gets very crowded in the evenings when everyone is out for a walk in Raja Park. We don't have a lot of space, so most people just stand on the sidewalk and talk. The fan above the counter makes a clicking noise, but it keeps us cool enough. We see all kinds of people, from government workers at the GPO to kids looking for candy. Sometimes we run out of fresh leaves if the delivery is late, and we have to tell people to come back later. It’s just a regular daily grind. We open early and stay open until the last few people leave the street. It’s a bit dusty, but it’s our spot.
