Vijayalakshmi Travels

Down at 28-793 in K.N. Colony, things move at a certain pace that we have all grown used to. Chittoor in Andhra Pradeesh, India, is known for its heat, and our office feels it every single day during the summer. Vijayalakshmi Travels has been operating out of this building for quite a while now. The road outside is often dusty, so we keep the front door closed most of the time to keep the interior clean for the staff. We have a few benches for people to sit on while they wait for whatever they need from us. The walls are covered with a few old maps and a calendar from three years ago that nobody ever took down for some reason. We use a lot of paper here, so there are stacks of notebooks on every flat surface. Our pens are always going missing, usually tucked behind someone's ear or lost in a drawer full of clips. The fan overhead makes a clicking sound on its highest setting, but we are so used to it that we don't even notice the noise anymore. We know most of the folks in K.N. Colony by name. It is a small community where news travels fast. We spend our mornings checking schedules and making sure everything is in order. Sometimes we have to run out to the main road to catch someone before they leave. It is just honest work in a busy part of Chittoor.
