We are based in a place called Amdalli, near Mahadevwada in the Karwar region of North Canara. It is quite a beautiful part of Karnataka, very green and close to the coast, though our office is more on the practical side. We aren't in a big city center, so the pace of life here is a bit slower. The address is just a local post office box and a village name, which tells you how rural it is. We spend our days dealing with the administrative side of things for the group. The office is a simple building with a tin roof in some parts, and you can hear the birds and the rain very clearly. Sometimes the cows from the nearby fields wander onto the road, making it a bit hard to get to work on time. We don't have a lot of high-tech gadgets, just the essentials like a couple of old PCs and a landline that rings occasionally. Most of the staff comes from the nearby villages, so we speak the local language and keep things very informal. Lunch is usually home-cooked food brought in steel tiffins, and we all sit together to eat. It’s a far cry from the big corporate headquarters in the metros, but we prefer the fresh air and the quiet. Our main job is just keeping the records straight and making sure everything is documented properly for the local area.
