About Sri Annapurna – Food & Beverages in Hyderabad
Sri Annapurna is located on Telephone Exchange Road in Gowli Guda, at the 15-2-34 address. We are tucked away right behind Krishna Priya Sweets, so the smell of frying samosas and sugar syrup is always in the air here. It’s a bit of a hidden spot if you don't know the area well, but the locals find us just fine. The shop isn't very large and we have a lot of stuff packed into the corners. I deal with general provisions and basic things people need for their kitchens. The telephone exchange nearby means there are always workers walking past, and some of them stop by for a cigarette or a soda. The walls inside the shop are painted a light blue that has faded over the years. I’ve thought about repainting but I never seem to find the time between opening up at eight and closing late. There is a small radio that I keep on a shelf which plays old Telugu songs most of the day. It keeps me company when the shop is quiet. Gowli Guda is a busy place with a lot of old buildings and narrow paths. We have to be careful with the stock because the dampness from the old walls can sometimes ruin the cardboard boxes. I just try to keep everything dry and clean as much as I can. It’s a decent living and I like being my own boss, even if the hours are long and the space is a bit cramped.
