About Running A Catering Business – Tourism in Hyderabad/ Secunderabad
We operate out of a house in Hyderabad, in the 500045 area. It is not a big industrial kitchen like you see on TV, just a place where we do a lot of cooking for people. Our days start really early, usually before the sun is even up, because we have to get the vegetables chopped and the stoves going. The whole house always smells like spices and fried onions and whatever else is on the menu for the day. We don't have a storefront where you can come and sit down to eat; we mostly just prepare food for events and parties and send it out in vans. There are big stainless steel pots everywhere and stacks of plastic crates for transport piled up in the corner. It is a family-style operation, so everyone chips in where they can when things get busy. Sometimes the kitchen feels way too small when we have a big order, but we always manage to make it work somehow. We spend a lot of time on the phone with suppliers in the local market to get the best ingredients we can find. The floor is usually a bit slippery by the end of the day, so we have to be careful not to fall. We don't have a fancy name yet, we just tell people we are running a catering business from the house. It is honest work and it keeps us busy all week. We just focus on making the food taste like home.
