Our kitchen is tucked away in Street No 6, Vidya Nagar. It’s right in that lane opposite Vasundhara College, so you can imagine how many students are always walking around. We’re also near the Masjid and right beside Ramaiah Hotel, which is a landmark everyone knows. We start very early here, usually before the sun is even up. You can smell the spices and the rice cooking if you walk past at five in the morning. We’ve been at 1-9-678 for quite some time now. Hyderabad is a city that loves food, so there’s always something to do. We don’t have a fancy menu card with glossy pictures. Most people just come in, taste a few things, and tell us what they want for their function. It gets very crowded in our small space when we’re packing boxes for a big delivery. We use a lot of local ingredients from the nearby markets. My cooks have been with me for years, and they know exactly how the neighborhood likes their food. Sometimes the traffic on the main road makes it hard to get the vans out on time, but we’ve learned all the shortcuts through Vidya Nagar by now. It’s honest work, and we like seeing people enjoy a good meal. We just keep our heads down and keep the stoves burning every day of the week. This is how we have always done things.
