Nikhil Pan Shop

My shop is over at 11/75-9 on Krishna Nagar Main Road. Attapur is a busy area these days with all the new buildings coming up, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. I set up Nikhil Pan Shop because I wanted something of my own close to where I live. It’s not a big storefront or anything fancy. Just a small stall where I keep the betel leaves fresh and the jars lined up. The traffic on the main road is constant, so there is always noise and a bit of dust flying around. I spend most of my day sitting on a small stool, waiting for the regulars to stop their bikes for a minute. Some of them have been coming for years and we talk about whatever is in the news or how the local cricket team is doing. I try to keep things simple. There’s no big sign with lights, just the name painted on the board. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon and it gets a bit warm, but the breeze from the road helps a little. I keep a few cold drinks in a small cooler too. It's a basic life, really. I open up around nine and stay until late when the street lights come on. It isn't much, but it’s steady work and I like being out here seeing people go by every single day.
