At Kousars Home Food, the kitchen is pretty much the heart of everything we do. We are over at 6-9-8521 in Vivekananda Nagar, right in the Chinnachowk area. If you walk by on a Tuesday morning, you can usually smell whatever is simmering on the stove from all the way down the block. It is not a big industrial factory or anything like that. It is just a few of us, mostly family and a couple of neighbors, chopping vegetables and making sure the spices are toasted just right. The counters are always covered in flour or bits of herbs, and there is a lot of loud talking while we work. We do not have a fancy reception area. If you come by, you will probably find someone scrubbing a big pot or packing containers into boxes. We have lived in Chinnachowk a long time, so we know most of the people who come to pick up their food. Sometimes we run out of ingredients and someone has to run to the local market real quick while the rest of us keep things moving. The floor is a bit uneven and the lighting is not great, but the food is honest and we do not take shortcuts. It is a lot of standing on our feet and dealing with the heat from the burners, but we like the work. We keep things simple and try to make sure every box that leaves the house is something we would eat ourselves.
